Wanganui count on men with heart

Seasoned Ratana front rower Vaan Rauhina is one of four former Heartland players included in the Wanganui Development rugby team to play Wellington Under-19 at Spriggens Park tomorrow. (Saturday). Rauhina, now aged 32, played the first of his 54 games for Wanganui in 2001 and won gold and silver Meads Cup medals.

The other Heartland reps in the squad for tomorrow are Kaierau first five Areta Lama (21 games between 2002 and 2013), Ratana utility back Aaron Paranihi (seven games in 2008) and Border winger Sailosi Naqiso (seven games last season).

Border 21-year-old utility player Sikeli Ulukuta, the top points scorer in Wanganui premier club rugby this year, has been named to play on the side of the scrum.

The Wanganui Development team for the 1.30pm match is –

Samu Kubunavanua (Utiku OB); Michael Nabuliwara (Utiku OB), Sailosi Naqiso (Border), Semi Radradra (Utiku OB); Fiatau Faalili (Kaierau), Areta Lama (Kaierau); Kane Tamou (Ratana); Kieran Hussey (Border – capt); Brad Matthews (Pirates), Jack Hodges (Border), Josh Lane (Kaierau), Sikeli Ulukuta (Border); Kapene Paki (Ratana), Vaan Rauhina (Ratana), Sam Stewart (Marist).

Reserves – Dylan Pearce (Ruapehu), Manu Herring and Dale Pene (Marist), Lake Ah Chong and Eric Sagapolutele (Marton), Manulua Lafi (Pirates), Malakai Volau (Utiku OB), Neihana Parkes (Tech) and Aaron Paranihi (Ratana).
